What is Newfound Value?
A web app that tells you what something is worth in Newfoundland, not on the mainland. Snap or paste a photo, say where you are, and get the new price, the NL used range, shipping-in cost, local stores and one "pay up to" number. Made by EastBid Inc., St. John's.
How is it different from Google Lens or eBay?
Lens finds the item; it does not know NL prices. eBay reflects mainland and US buyers. Newfound Value prices the island premium: bulky, hard-to-ship things hold value here, small collectibles often fetch more away. It also shows today's online prices and links you to Marketplace, Kijiji NL, eBay sold results, Amazon, Etsy and Temu.
How accurate is it?
Every report shows a confidence score and why. It is deliberately conservative (never above 95%, text-only checks cap at 60%). Prices are AI estimates, not live listings: a second opinion before you buy, not an appraisal for insurance or lending.
Does it know what is in stock at Canadian Tire, Costco or Walmart in St. John's?
No store shares live inventory. It shows today's online prices from Google Shopping (Amazon, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Best Buy and more), says which local stores likely carry the item, and links you to their search so you can check in seconds.
What does it cost?
Free accounts get 3 scans. Pro is $4.99 CAD a month for 50 scans, Flipper is $9.99 for 500, Enterprise is $99.99 for 10,000. Only priced answers use a scan. Each friend you invite earns you a scan once they run one; 20 earns 3 months of Pro free. Cancel in one tap.
Can I price a whole shelf or box at once?
Yes. List mode reads a shelf of books, a table of tools or a box of records, prices each item, flags what is worth listing separately and totals the lot.
What if there are several things in the photo?
It asks which one you meant. Tap it and it re-checks. That question is free and only happens once per photo.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It runs in any browser and installs to your home screen. On Android you can share a screenshot straight to it. On iPhone use Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Will it price anything?
No. It refuses items that are illegal or restricted to sell in Canada (firearms, drugs, counterfeits, protected wildlife, recalled child products, prescription medication) and tells you when a photo has nothing sellable in it.
Who runs Newfound Value and what happens to my photos?
