Questions · Using Newfound Value
Can I use Newfound Value at an auction?
Short answer
Yes. Set the context to Auction and enter the current bid; you get a max smart bid that still leaves a margin for resale or a real saving over buying new. Add the buyer's premium and tax on top before you bid.
Set the ceiling before the bidding starts
Write the max smart bid down and stop there. Prices climb in the last minute and the number you decided on calmly is the right one.
Add the extras
Most auctions add a buyer's premium (often 10 to 20 percent) plus tax, and big items need a truck and a pickup window. Count all of it against the ceiling.
Box lots
Use list mode on the photo of the lot: it prices each piece and totals it, so you know whether the box is worth the opening bid.
